About Quilting.fyi
Who publishes Quilting.fyi, how the calculators and guides are made, and how the site earns money.
Quilting.fyi is a set of quilt calculators and guides for the cutting table. Each calculator gives the number first, draws the result to scale and shows every step of the arithmetic, so you can check it against your own pencil math.
Who publishes it
Quilting.fyi is published by Worlds Enough Studios.
How the calculators work
The calculators run in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere, and the numbers live in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a result. Every calculator rounds fabric up to the next 1/8 yard and says so. Every default, such as 4 inches of backing overage or 2 1/2 inch binding strips, is an editable input with its usual range explained, because quilters don’t all work the same way.
How the guides are made
The guides are researched, drafted and fact-checked by AI: specifically by Claude Opus, an AI model made by Anthropic. That’s the name in each guide’s byline. It’s a label, not a person. Worlds Enough Studios sets the editorial direction: which questions to cover and the rules every guide follows.
- Sources. Facts come from published sources, such as manufacturer specifications for fabric and batting widths, and each claim links to its source so you can check it.
- Makers. Where a guide includes hands-on experience, it comes from a named quilter or sewist who agreed to be quoted. Their words are quoted as theirs and credited, and their photos are their own work.
- No testing claims. The AI writer hasn’t sewn, quilted or tested anything, and the guides never claim otherwise.
- Checks. Every number in a guide must match the calculators, and every draft is fact-checked against its sources before it’s published.
- Updates. When a guide is substantially revised, its modified date changes. Small fixes such as typos don’t change it.
How the site earns money
Some guides link to products on Amazon. Those are affiliate links: if you buy through one, Worlds Enough Studios earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. A product is linked only where a guide’s steps call for one. See affiliate links.
